John Dwight Ludden was a member of the Minnesota Territorial Legislature and Speaker of the House in 1852. In 1856, he was a member of the Minnesota Territorial Commission. Upon his death, Ludden left trust funds of land and real estate to the University of Minnesota to support students in need.
